In 1914 Lizzie (Williams) Stevenson came from Arkansas to the Chickasha area with her mother and sister.  She received her B.A. degree from Langston Univ. and M.A. Degree in education from the Univ. of California.  Her teaching career spanned 47 years with 42 of those in Chickasha Public Schools.  In 1971 she was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” for Chickasha Schools.  She maintained her interest in education by her active participation in Retired Teachers’ Associations, as well as, the AAUW.  She was also a part of the delegation to Atlanta at which time Chickasha was awarded the “All American City” honor.  Mrs. Stevenson died in 1999.  Copyright © 2003-2004 E-mail: caac@chickashaarts.org Chickasha Area Arts Council Last Updated: May 19, 2004
