Joseph Miller
Born July 31, 1888 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas, Joseph Miller graduated
from Ouachita College in Mathematics and met his future wife Geraldine
Busby at Ouachita. He began his educational career as a principal in
Hugo, Oklahoma and then moved into other administrative jobs in Vinita
and Seminole. Finishing his masters in mathematics from OU in 1915, he
took a position as Head of the Mathematics Department at Southeastern
Teachers College in Durant. In 1922 he came to the Oklahoma College for
Women where he kept his position until his retirement in 1958. He was a
member of the Oklahoma National Guard and was a veteran of World War II,
retiring from the military as a Colonel in 1946. He passed away on April
5, 1970.
