Lottie Mae Baker
Miss Baker was born August 29, 1893 in Moody, Texas. She died in 1977 in
Oklahoma City and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery on July 5th.
Miss Baker moved to Purcell at the age of six years and to Chickasha at
sixteen. She was a 1927 graduate of Oklahoma College for Women and later
received a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York.
She taught English and Latin in Ardmore, Dallas, El Reno, and Chickasha
schools.
Lou Alice Baker
Miss Baker, teacher in Emerson School in Oklahoma City for several
years, succumbed from complications of the flu on March 28, 1938 at the
age of 43. Born in Moody, Texas, Miss Baker completed her high school
education at Purcell before moving to Chickasha with her parents. She
attended Central State Teachers College in Edmond and Oklahoma City
University before graduating from the Oklahoma College for Women in
1929. Both she and her sister Lottie were members at Epworth Methodist
Church.
