W. M. "Bill" Jenkins
March 10,
1889 – 1990

Bill (W. M.) Jenkins was born March 10,
1889, in Bastrop, Texas. In his 101 years of life, Mr. Jenkins gained
fame in the profession of horseshoeing - fame that carried his name
across most of the U.S. and earned him the privilege of working with
such celebrities as Roy Rogers, John Wayne and Dale Robertson. He was
also invited to teach at a number of horseshoeing schools, including
schools in Texas and California. Mr. Jenkins was a member of First
Baptist Church, First Street and Dakota Avenue, for over 60 years. Both
the oldest deacon and member, he was a member of the Men’s Bible Sunday
School Class and sanctuary choir. He attended faithfully until his
health failed.
