Rose hill Cemetery Tour 2005
Johnston Rees Dews
March 6,
1910 – October 11, 1943

The
son of a pioneer Chickasha family, Johnston Rees Dews was
born March 6, 1910. He was killed in an airplane crash on October 11,
1943, in Pensacola, Fla. Mr. Dews was on naval duty, attending the
Navy’s photography school at Pensacola. Mr. Dews attended the
University of Oklahoma, and worked in the family’s local florist
business. He went on to become the chief inspector of the orchard and
nursery department of the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture.
Active in the community of Chickasha, Mr. Dews was a member of the
Presbyterian Church and the Rotary Club. He served as scoutmaster for
the local Boy Scout troop for many years. His wife’s name was Dorothy.
