Mr. Calvin
Good had a quest for knowledge and continued his education throughout
his life. He was born in 1911 in Chickasha, graduated
valedictorian of his class and cum laude from OU. He attended
Birmingham Univ. in England and USAO. He was well known for his
many portrayals in USAO and OU drama productions. He served in the
US army and worked as a cartographer for the state of Oklahoma, a
stenographer and as a schoolteacher. He died in 1983 and
donated his body to the OU Health Science Center.
Leonard Phelps Good
Born in Chickasha in 1907, Leonard
Phelps Good graduated from Chickasha High School and the University of
Oklahoma. He attended the Art Students League and Clarence White
School of Photography in New York City as well as the University of
Iowa. After teaching art in schools in Oklahoma and Texas, Mr.
Good was a member of the OU School of Art for 20 years and served as a
member of various art associations and guilds. On Jan 17, 1993
Gov. David Walters honored Mr. Good as he proclaimed that day as
“Leonard Good Day”. Mr. Good died on Feb. 13, 2000.
