ARTSCOPE TO BE HELD IN CHICKASHA FOR TENTH YEAR
Funding for Artscope is provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council. Student scholarships are available; recipients must be eligible to receive free or reduced lunches at school and agree to attend camp every day. Other scholarships are also available for students who do not qualify for the school lunch program but who might have difficulty attending camp without assistance. The scholarship deadline is May 1, 2008, the scholarship application is below.
Artscope will be held on the campus of USAO in Chickasha this summer. Artscope is a summer arts day camp for children ages 8 - 12. Enrollment is open for the two-week, all-day program, which will be held June 9-20. All scholarships will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis after the deadline.
Day campers will be able to study drawing, painting, sculpting, theatre, dance, and music as well as experience presentations from guest artists. Artscope instructors have extensive experience as both teaching and performing artists. Theatre teachers are Julie Bohannon and Katie Davis. Visual Arts teachers are Carrie Brown and Amy Widener. Crystal Wyatt will teach music and Claris Periman will teach dance. Artscope is a great way to experience the arts from real artists and to learn how artists think and create while having fun.
Artscope is a non-profit program of the Chickasha Area Arts Council, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Foundation, and the Children's Arts Network. Artscope is in its ninth year in Chickasha.
